Cracking the Code: Unveiling Student Preferences and Attendance Patterns in Business Lectures

Lightning Session Stream 2: Sharing of action research

Time: 10:30 am – 10:55 am

Location: G16 & G07

Student attendance in lectures for most business department courses is extremely low. Even more concerning is that despite the availability of recorded lectures, many students do not watch these recordings before attending tutorials. To address this issue, we are conducting exploratory research to investigate whether students prefer a specific mode of lecture delivery, identify the reasons behind non-attendance and determine whether there are differences between Diploma and Foundation Level students in terms of their preferred mode of lecture. We expect the results will give us invaluable insights into improving student engagement in lectures, and consequently, academic performance throughout the course.
