AI-Powered Learning: A Study Buddy for Engaging with Course Content
Lightning Session Stream 2: Sharing of action research
Time: 11:00 am – 11:25 am
Location: G16 & G07
Many students in first-year university subjects, such as Introduction to Programming, face challenges adapting to the UNSW College academic expectations. Therefore, this AI-powered study companion has been created to provide structured guidance, making learning more interactive and accessible. In this session, I will demonstrate how the DPST1091/CPTG1391 Study Buddy GPT AI-powered academic assistant can support first-year students, school leavers, and overseas students in their transition to learning at UNSW College. This session is valuable beyond programming, as tutors from all disciplines can make a similar AI model by uploading their course materials, creating a scalable, AI-driven academic support system. Ensuring responsible AI use, this tool fosters independent learning while supporting students in their academic transition—helping them think critically, adapt, and succeed at UNSW College.
