Providing additional accessible educational resources for student learning - OpenStax and JoVE

Lightning Session Stream 4: Equity, Inclusion and Differentiation practices

Time: 10:30 am – 10:55 am

Location: G19 & G04

Students no longer rely on course notes or textbooks and instead use digital sources (e.g. search and AI) as a first step to access information. As students transition from secondary to tertiary education they must learn to seek out and engage a variety of sources. It is therefore necessary to introduce these skills by reducing the barriers to accessing high quality materials that are aligned with our courses, so that students know where to look for trusted information.

In this session, I will introduce how I have been using Moodle books, glossaries and quizzes with OpenStax openly licenced online textbooks and teacher resources (published by Rice University), and JoVE (Journal of Visualised Experiments) videos in multiple languages, to provide easily accessible quality learning materials in FS Physics.
